I'm itching to get started! My fabric choices so far:

I bought the grey on purpose for this project, but all my neutrals have different stories. Upper left, bough in my last trip to Barcelona. Upper right, a curtain of my bedroom as I was a kid. Down left, ugly fabric I want to get rid off (cut small enough). Down right, from a M* scrap bag.
Clue #2: http://quiltville.blogspot.com.es/2015/12/allietare-part-2.html

I'm caught up with all the cutting (including black and grey squares). I'm also going scrappy with the reds. First row: my last Portuguese purchase plus several Christmas fabrics. Second row: tone-on-tone FQs bought in Barcelona plus Ikea Ditte solid red. Third row: florals, paisleys and plaid from my favorite fabric outlet.
Clue #3: http://quiltville.blogspot.com.es/2015/12/allietare-part-3.html

I've gone extremely scrappy with yellow/golds, pulling out from my 2 1/2" strip box. A couple of fabrics are lighter than Bonnie's suggestion, but my neutrals are also lighter and contrast well.
Too many blanks still...
My usual tea boxes were too small... I had to store this clue in a pizza box! I got quite a variety of reds and neutrals, but only 6 different blacks (one of them pirate themed).
I've been sewing all this first day of 2016 and I've completed all my blocks. Now the problem is, what to use for the borders. Bonnie Hunter suggests an inner yellow border and an outer black border. But I was mostly working from scraps and FQs, and the only fabrics I have enough yardage left in this color scheme are these:
From both reds and yellow, I have slightly above 1/2 yd, enough for the inner border. From grey and black, slightly 1 1/4 yd each, eligible for outer border. I'm auditionning different options:
Finally added red and black borders, it is HUUUUUGE!!! Sadly this means this top is goingo to wait with his sibling Grand Illusion at the bottom of my closet until I am fully equiped to deal with quilting it. I don't even have room enough in this house to display it and take a pic, so this is just a corner (about 1/4 of it) of the now rebaptized as the "Pirate Quilt":
Thanks again to Bonnie Hunter for this wonderful pattern and fun experience!
